Humans have the capacity to be both givers and takers. On a scale of 1 to 10, with takers at one end and givers at the other end, most of us are in the middle at about five. I don't understand the psychology of why we are what we are but I think it's interesting to recognize types of givers and what makes them tick. I think there are three general types of givers: #1: The … [Read more...] about The Magic of No-Strings Giving

The Upside of Aging: Disappointing
Reviewed by Barbara Morris Recently on C-SPAN I watched Paul H. Irving talk about "The Upside of Aging" and what I heard had the electrons in my brain doing a happy dance. My feet were happy, too. I was on my treadmill and they wanted to do a happy dance as well. I was … [Read more...] about The Upside of Aging: Disappointing
Hummingbird Therapy
There are some who don’t know about ‘hummingbirds’, those small, colorful birds that are so beautiful! These special birds sip nectar rather than eating birdseed. I have four feeders on my front porch, with the nectar I make in the kitchen. I use one cup of sugar and three cups of water, mixed well. I don’t use red food coloring because I read that it is harmful to the … [Read more...] about Hummingbird Therapy
Falling In Love Again

Maybe it takes more than one hand for you to count them … [Read more...] about Contentment: The Secret Sauce of Life

The Tyranny of Intolerance
One would think that everyone fortunate enough to live in the United States of America would celebrate and respect the First Amendment that guarantees everyone the right to voice their opinion, however disagreeable it may be. That said, the atmosphere that exists in many quarters would lead to the impression that expression of free speech is something to be … [Read more...] about The Tyranny of Intolerance
