It’s universally accepted that most humans would prefer to have the youth and vitality of teenagers forever — without the teenage immaturity, of course.
Our culture has very few remaining social standards that guide personal behavior, and many of those are under constant challenge. Change begins as marginal behavior and insidiously declines to the lowest common denominator. Remember when “Casual Friday” began? Predictably, it has evolved into “It’s okay to look like a slob every day of the week,” and now it has primarily been regarded as “acceptable” dress. Those of advanced age often do not reject social change; instead, they take it and integrate it into their prevailing lifestyle, regardless of its nature or appearance.
Most older women, under the relentless pressure of societal norms to look younger, strive to enhance their appearance. They invest in cosmetic procedures and fashion choices to emulate the likes of Kris Kardashian, a celebrity known for her age-defying looks and business acumen as well as her appearance-obsessed daughters.
I admire Kris Kardashian. She is a smart cookie. I could not have achieved what she did after my husband died. Unfortunately, her gutsy climb to celebrity status is hampering her growth, and it is not serving her well.
It’s now common to see older women wearing teen-style clothes.. Kris Kardashian is said to be 69 years old (and possibly older —Hollywood tends to ignore the aging process) and has been seen wearing a “fave” of teens — $1,400 ripped jeans.
Here she is:
While you are enjoying the photo, be sure to check out her shoes and jacket. She’s In total designer duds. In the photo, she’s shopping in Malibu with her daughter, Kim. Now, isn’t that cute? What else is there to do when you have more money than common sense?
I feel sure that if Kris lives to 100, she will be just as perky and sexy as all her daughters and change boyfriends as quickly as they do when the next Adonis appears.
You will be happy to know that Kris has a 43-year-old boyfriend. What? That’s terrible! (Sarcasm) She is 30 years older than he is! Coach Bill Belichick is 73, and his girlfriend is 26 years old. While men in our Loony Tunes culture snicker and secretly wish they were in Bill’s shoes (or whatever), older women can’t get a date because they are “too old.” Imagine if Bill were 26 and the girlfriend was 73. She would be reviled for “cradle robbing,” and Bill would be considered brain-dead for appreciating (loving) an older woman.
Can we get over this cultural crap that revolves around age differances? This ‘crap’ is the societal double standard that celebrates older men dating younger women while shaming older women for doing the same.
But back to Kris Kardashian: Check out her boyfriend with the understanding she might have traded him in for someone younger by the time you read this.
I opened this article with, “I think it’s universally accepted that most humans would prefer to have the youth and vitality of teenagers forever — without the teenage immaturity, of course.” Kris Kardashian exemplifies that statement, and I give her credit for doing things her way. Unfortunately, I don’t think she will ever experience what every woman wants — to be truly loved and appreciated for herself, not for her bank account, celebrity status, or anything else.
