Why are people often decrepit and decayed at age 80 (if they live that long)? The answer is that over a lifetime, we consistently eat nutritionally bankrupt junk advertised as "food." We fail to exercise our body and brain. We don't think for ourselves. We follow outdated cultural expectations. In other words, we are responsible for how quickly decline sets in. It has nothing to do with chronological age or the passage of time.

Simply put, we cause much of our decline by how we eat, think, and live over the years. It's that simple. But few of us want to hear it or believe it. Here is an excerpt from an article in Science Daily in 2021 that unintentionally sums up why many are old and frail at age 80:

"Ultra-processed foods are ready-to-eat or ready-to-heat items often high in added sugar, sodium, and carbohydrates, and low in fiber, protein, vitamins, and minerals. They typically contain added sugars, hydrogenated oils, and flavor enhancers. Examples include packaged sweet snacks and desserts, sugary breakfast cereals, French fries, fast food burgers, and some lunchmeats such as bologna and salami. When consumed in excess, these foods are linked with diabetes, obesity, and other serious medical conditions, such as certain cancers."

Many, if not most, old people have one or more of the above diseases, and we say, "they are normal diseases of old age." No, they are not normal. Old age is not the culprit. As a cartoon character, Pogo would say, "We have met the enemy, and it is us."

One of the worst things we eat, starting in early childhood and often continuing for the rest of life, are dry breakfast cereals -- you know -- the crap that tastes like cardboard and comes in an attractive box. A good example is Fruit Loops. Your kids (and you?) eat it every morning because it tastes good and the colors are pretty. Nutritional value? Zip. Zero. You might as well eat a bowl of sugar and dye. The sugar in Fruit Loops gets kids jacked up for a couple of hours, then they experience a sugar crash. That's when they get crazy and irritable. If they are in school, they cannot think or listen and perhaps misbehave because they need real nourishment.

Author Dave Rubin has taken on Kellogg's not just for their crappy Fruit Loops but because the boxes are now used to indoctrinate the kids to accept WOKEism. Watch this brief video by Dave Rubin. This should be a wake-up call if you have young kids or grandchildren to feed.
